Paragon Woodwork
01/09/2006
Paragon Woodwork is owned and operated by John Tranchina in Kingston. He holds a Washington general contractors license and performs some light building and remodeling, but focuses mainly on fine woodworking. Typical projects range from built-in nooks, libraries and wine cellars to custom entry doors and fireplace surrounds, to fine furnishings and turning.
John has been a carpenter and woodworker for over 30 years, working on may high-end homes with clients seeking artistic details in fine woods. For much of this time, furniture and cabinet-making was an after-hours avocation. Since moving his wife, Claudia, and daughter from northern California in 1995, John has been primarily involved in the homebuilding industry on Bainbridge Island until completing the construction of his Kingston home and nearby workshop a few years ago. Since then he has worked primarily as a fine-woodworker.
What Paragon Woodwork offers to customers is: Traditional woodworking skills, a reverence for and knowledge of fine woods, attentive service, and an alternative to production oriented shops. John typically chooses to work alone to ensure that projects are completed with proper attention throughout. In this world of mass production and instant gratification, he has a strong belief that homes and furnishings that are well conceived and artistically produced, can have subtle positive influences on the people who experience them. Working from his own designs, client sketches, or architectural drawings, Paragon Woodwork can fabricate that special piece that you haven't been able to find, one that fits your needs precisely, and which can become a family heirloom.
