Kingston Art Gallery Extends Itself
05/08/2008
by Marilyn Liden Bode
Not only is the Kingston Art Gallery growing at
its space at Susan Roger’s Cleo’s Landing at the
intersection of West Kingston Road and Highway
104, but a Kingston Art Gallery Gift Shop will
open at the Port of Kingston Office on May 1.
The Port Office is open 7 days a week, 8am - 5pm
and in addition, Memorial Day through Labor Day
it will be open on Friday and Saturday until 8pm.
With ever increasing numbers of artists joining the
cooperative and ever more questions by patrons
about art classes, our dream is to expand into the
new space connected to the Gallery in late spring.
Want to TEACH an art class? Have you yearned
to TAKE a class and get on with being the artist
you already are? (I happen to believe everyone
is an artist. Some just don’t realize it.) Are you
contemplating joining us? Contact Patty Watson-
Halfhill our Gallery Manager at 297-2095 or at
pawsmac@mac.com. to chat about the possibilities.
Betty Claire of Earth Dance Pottery is coordinating
the Gift Shop at the Port of Kingston with the
support of Philip Yu, Port Retail Services Manager.
Intended to introduce boaters to the local art at
the Gallery just up the hill, it is open to the public
during Port office hours. Some of our artists’ work
will be unique to this shop.
Our Second Saturday Gallery Night, May 10,
5 - 8pm features Christy Camerer and her
astonishing color pencil drawings. Incredible
realism is inspired by her love of the outdoors,
kayaking and hiking with her husband Russ.
Together they run their Bluewater Artworks
business. Also featured is Harv Kolln and his
Spirit Birds. His winsome Western Red Cedar
sculpted birds bring joy to many North Kitsap
homes. Each unique hand sculpted bird looks
right at you and connects. As always, music and
refreshments begin your Saturday evening. Join us!
Include yourself as we extend ourselves.
