Envision Retirement Opens Office in Kingston
03/16/2008
by Stephen and Lou Barrett
Life is a series of phases. Growing up, getting through school and raising a family. It is the change from one phase to another that can bring a level of both excitement and anxiety. Just look at a graduating high school or college student or a first time expectant mother.
At Envision Retirement we specialize in life transition planning. We focus on the life transitions when people experience empty nesting, retirement and loss of a spouse.
Many times we simultaneously work with a baby boomer couple as they experience empty nesting and with their parents as they cope with realities of advance aging.
Envision Retirement is an independent fee-based registered investment advisory practice. We do traditional financial planning and investment management. But we saw a gap in the way ordinary financial services firms sold products and what we felt clients wanted.
We feel it was important to be a client centered practice and emphasize getting clarity on the long term vision before developing a financial plan or selecting financial products. It is amazing how different people are once they’ve crystallized the vision of their future based on their core values, principles and passions.
The emphasis on retirement was not because it should be the goal for everyone to retire early but rather the recognition that retirement is a future reality. It is far more important that a client spends each day with a strong sense of purpose and having control over their lives. For some people, working at a large company is very fulfilling while others look to shift to a smaller firm, become self employed or retiring and becoming very active in the community.
Our typical client is the middle-class millionaire who is financially successful but hasn’t changed their core values. They value having a long term relationship with an advisor who can provide conflict free advice.
We just recently opened our new office in Kingston in the Windermere office next to American Marine Bank. Our business started in Redmond. Once we became empty nesters with last child heading off to college, we did our own vision planning and concluded that we would be much happier in Kingston.
