Get Ready for THE BIG ONE
In the case of "The Big One," whatever disaster that might be, you may actually need that case of canned chili. Stillwaters Environmental Center in Kingston offers two sessions of a class, "Getting Ready for The Big One: Storable Foods," from 10:00 a.m. until noon on November 12th and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on November 15th.
This class will show a range of foods to pack away NOW that will keep you healthy during feast or famine, or just a lengthy power outage. See a range of foods that will cook quickly or with no mess. Learn how to cook simultaneiously with one burner and what raw foods keep well Tast some samples, too. The class will be taught by Anahata Pomeroy, who went to India in the 1970's to teach macrobiotic nutrition at a nature center. This is one class of a series, "Getting Ready for The Big One: Back to the Basics," offered at Stillwaters in November, January, February and Marach. Cost of each class is $15.00. Pre-register by November 9th by contacting Program Director Joleen Palmer at 360-297-2876. Stillwaters is located at 2w6059 Barber Cut Off Road in Kingston.
