A Sound Idea
09/29/2008
Kingston Art Gallery is a sound idea. True!
Chamber members hopefully learned a thing or two about art, the Kingston Art Gallery in particular and benefits Kingston receives from a quality Art Gallery at the September luncheon. Amidst hearing "That's a trick question" and gales of laughter Jana Kramberger prevailed and won Marylyn Miller's collage giclee (a type of reproduction) for the most correct answers. Way to go, Jana!
In October gallery hours will change with our closed days being Monday and Tuesday and open for you Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am - 6 pm. Featured October 8 through November 2 is fiber artist Ann Maki in her solo show of her thread sketches and torn assemblages inspired by the brilliant colors of autumn. Ann's unique complex work shows off her startling color relationships. Meet her at our Second Saturday Gallery Night, October 11, 5 - 8pm. True, our Second Saturday Gallery Night is, you guess it, always on the Second Saturday every month.
On Saturday October 24, 10am - 5pm one of our two fused glass artists, Jim Gregory, will teach a class at Cleo's Landing Education Center. A career glass chemist, Jim will teach up to 8 students fused glass techniques with take home bowls and Christmas ornaments. Call 360-297-5133 for details. Get a jump on the holidays.
So, what are some of the benefits your artist run cooperative Art Gallery brings to our community? A fine place to experience fine art, and to bring visiting friends and relatives; a "downtown" (in more ways than one) place for tourists to visit, (tourists come just for it as we advertise state wide;) a "buy local" source of gifts, fun at the Gallery Nights, reputation as an art community, artists as volunteers in North Kitsap, just to name a few. What's on your list?
By the way, several of you have yet to pick up your door prize at the Gallery.
