OUTRAGEOUS FUNDRAISER RETURNS IN OCTOBER
October 1 will mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the North Kitsap chapter of Soroptimist International is appropriately gearing up for their outrageously fun “Bras for a Cause” charity auction. The second annual event, which will earn money for local breast-cancer related services, will be held Saturday evening, October 18 at the Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton.
As October begins, local business and individuals are putting the final touches on their creative “theme bras” which will be on display and available for purchase at the auction. This year’s early entries include “Alice in Wonderbra Land,” the vintage “Grandma’s Lace,” the movie-inspired “The Wizard of Bras,” and a special purple and gold bra created just for Husky fans. Rumor has it that the most outrageous entry this year may embody a lighted Disco theme.
The “Bras for a Cause” event will include the bra displays, heavy hors’doeuvres, the comedy of Seattle’s Cathy Sorbo, and the music of Sound Sensation. A silent and a live auction will feature a variety of gifts and gift certificates, including a fantastic Holland-America cruise for two. Proceeds from the event will benefit local women and children in Kitsap County and local breast-cancer related services.
Any business or individual who would like to create and enter a bra, donate items or gift-certificates for the fundraiser, or become an event sponsor, may still do so.
